Had a great time fishing with my son Rick and grandson Ryan for 3 days at
Stampede Reservoir. We entered the Kokanee tournament on Saturday so
we had to practice on Friday. We used Rick's North River and caught some
nice kokanee on Friday and then included some fun by pulling Ryan across
the lake with the tube.
We had the fish dialed in so felt good about going into the tournament the
next day. There were almost 70 teams entered and Ryan was entered in the
Jr. Division with 26 kids.
We caught 10 fish Saturday with 3 nice fish to be turned in for our team
along with a single fish that Ryan had caught for his division. At check in, we
started in 4th and Ryan was 1st but by the time all entries were done, we
were middle of the road but Ryan took 4th and got a nice trophy and custom
tournament hat.
We did win $100 in the 'blind bogey' event. It was fun and for a good cause.
The fish were the biggest that I had ever seen since fishing the lake. The
average size was over 15" long with many 17" size.

We stayed and fished Sunday and caught 5 more before we had to leave.
The whole trip we had caught over 20 fish which meant Rick had plenty for
the smoker. The weather was the greatest I had seen there, cool nights and
warm days. Next year we need more teams.
