Fly Fishing The Upper Sac
                                         By Rocky Ferraro

I had the pleasure of taking my daughters fly fishing this summer on the
Upper Sacramento River. Things had been hectic all summer long and we
were not able to get our schedules in order until the later part of the
summer. As it turns out the river was just starting to fish good when we went
up.
It was a great typical fishing adventure. We woke up at 4am and left soon
thereafter. We had breakfast on I5 and then stopped at The Fly Shop in
Redding to get information and flies. The girls went in the fly shop hesitant at
first since they were still in their PJs.
We 4 wheeled it down to the river by around 10am. We put on our waders
and vests and got our fly rods ready. On the way to our spot we watched a
train roll by us. The girls were amazed that we were walking so near the train
tracks and that you could actually hear the tracks vibrate when the train was
approaching.
We fished several spots along the river and then walked back to the truck.
We had a nice lunch in the shade of some pines. After lunch we walked back
to another spot and fished until late afternoon. We had a great summer
afternoon just fishing the river in the summer sun.
